Are they bakers? Yes, they are. The current owner of the house inherited the weather vane from his father, who was a baker.
It's also occurred to me that the previous clue, "Golden Cap", refers to a house name carved in a piece of stone
that looks suspiciously like a loaf of bread - perhaps one with a crusty golden cap to it? That's just co-incidence though...
