Cliff Cottage is that rather wonderful house right on the seafront, but really only properly viewed from the beach. A marvellous collection of extensions, ranging over an incalculable number of storeys (floor levels seem all over the place) and with a cornucopia of balconies and terraces, it's stood here for many many years. It is accessed from the steep steps opening onto Shore Road, with a nameplate on both the wooden gate, and on the wall behind it.

After the first world war, the house was home to pioneering artist and photographer Helen Muspratt (1907 - 2001). Today the house is available to rent as holiday accommodation, so you too could stay in this fascinating and historic property.
