The view from here helps to recall
The celebrated Albert Hall

Whose canine friends were nearby?

JB (plaque on adjacent bench)
A little way down the path past the beach huts are a couple of benches. One has a plaque in memory of Albert J Hall MBE, and next to it is one to JB "and all his dachshund pals".

So who was Albert J Hall MBE, and why was he celebrated with the award of an MBE? This is (yet another) mystery. Lists of recipients of the MBE ("Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire") show a number of Halls, but the only male recipients of that surname are Andrew Jonathon "Andy" Hall MBE, and Henry "Harry" Reginald Holland Hall MBE. So absolutely no reference to any Albert Hall receiving an MBE. So is this an error in the engraving? (Maybe it should be OBE or CBE?)... or did Albert just claim an MBE when he didn't have one... or does MBE stand for something quite different in his case? Options could be Master of Business Education, Master in Business Economics, Master in Biomedical Engineering, or just plain Motor Bike Enthusiast (all suggestions courtesy of Google!). As ever... if you know, then contact me and that will be another mystery solved. Likewise, if you know who JB was, do share!
And what a view it is... And what a view it is...
Apologies for the "diversion" at this point. The council have been refurbishing the beach huts here but, at the time of going to print, the path was still open down the steps to the front. Fortunately a small diversion takes you back on track.

The path below here is closed. Go back and make your way down to shore road, either via the green or via Walrond Road; then turn north

Down via steps to seafront then N.
Through lower wooden gate, S. down to road; then turn sharp left N.
